Level UnlockedConquering the Quarter-Pipe: Leo's Drop-In Success
When 8-year-old Leo first joined our Beginner Basics program at Kennedy Park, he was hesitant to take his feet off the deck. Fast forward to week three, and under the encouragement of Coach Miller, Leo stood at the top of the quarter pipe.
"Seeing a kid stand at the coping is all mental," says Miller. "We practiced stomp tests on flat ground until his footing was muscle memory. When he finally dropped in and rolled out smooth, the entire park erupted in cheers. That confidence spreads to everything else he does."
Camp SpiritBuilding Friendships & Flow: Summer camp recap
Skate camps are about more than landing technical tricks; they are about fostering community. During our Foundations Week camp, 11-year-old Maya took on a voluntary mentorship role, helping the younger 5-year-old "Young Shredders" find their stance.
"Our mission is to instil a lifetime love of boarding," highlights owner Kevin O'Brien. "Seeing the older kids support the younger kids, high-fiving them when they learn to roll, is exactly why we started Boardgarden Napa. We build more than skills; we build character."
